I. The Betrayal of Cinema
Cinema was born as an art form—an unparalleled fusion of light, time, and human consciousness. But in the modern world, it has been hijacked. Festivals, critics, and institutions that once championed artistic excellence have abandoned their duty, replacing vision with marketability, depth with accessibility, and transcendence with entertainment.
Cinema, the last great art form, has been reduced to an industry—a machine that rewards banality, punishes ambition, and buries true artists in obscurity.
We reject this system.
A film’s value today is determined not by its artistic merit but by where it premieres, what prizes it wins, and who finances it. The so-called "great films" of our time are chosen by selection committees with vested interests, by critics who mistake trends for truth, by distributors who mold art into commodity.
The big festivals—Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Toronto—no longer determine what is great.
They merely determine what sells.
We reject their authority.
A painting is not great because it is sold for millions.
A symphony is not eternal because it wins an award.
True art is measured by its ability to transform the human soul.
Cinema must reclaim its place among the highest of the arts—alongside painting, literature, and music. But for this to happen, we must create a new framework for recognizing greatness.
We must build a Temple of Cinema—a place where the works of Tarkovsky, Bresson, Parajanov, and their true successors are enshrined not because they won prizes, but because they expanded human consciousness.
We must judge films not by their box office, premieres, or awards—but by their aesthetic, intellectual, and spiritual power.
The Cinema Sanctum is not a festival. It is not an industry. It is a movement.
This is our challenge.
This is our defiance.
This is The Cinema Sanctum.
